A pair of Caldwell County Tigers got an extra Christmas gift this week with inclusion on the 2024 Courier-Journal All-State Football Team.
Senior Luke Parker was named second team all-state at defensive back.
Parker tied a pair of school interception records this season. His nine picks for the season equaled the mark of Pete Moore from 1963. His four interceptions against Hopkins County Central in a season-opening win tied the record of Dimitri McGowan from 1982.
Meanwhile, junior kicker Sutton Ritchey received honorable mention on the Courier-Journal All-State Football Team.
Ritchey was not only effective with his deep kickoffs, but also helped the Tigers come up with several onside kicks during the season.
Earlier this month, both Parker and Ritchey were named first team on the annual All-WKC team.
Caldwell concluded the football season 5-7 against a difficult schedule. However, the Tigers had a three-game winning streak late in the year, with rivalry wins over Crittenden County and Trigg County along with a playoff victory at Fort Campbell.
