
It was a matchup of the oldest and most experienced team in the 8th District against the youngest and least experienced team in the district. And, in the end, it played out just like you would figure that kind of matchup could.
Playing reserves most of the night, the Christian County Lady Colonels held the Lady Warriors scoreless for just over three quarters on their way to an 82-8 road win over Heritage Christian Academy.
The Lady Colonels led 23-0 after the first eight minutes and then extended that lead to 51-0 at the break.
Adreyona Smith had a big first half for Christian County with 14 points. Carliah Hobson added 8 points and DaNiya Bradley added 7.
With the running clock in play to start the second half, the rest of the game played out quickly.
The Lady Warriors shooting woes continued as the second half got underway. With the Lady Colonels packed back in a tight 2-3 zone, there were opportunities for shots for HCA, they just could not get them to fall.
The third quarter ended with Christian County leading 72-0.
Heritage Christian finally broke through with 7:18 to go in the game when Kynlee Henderson hit a three. Henderson made her second three just moments later.
The Lady Warriors would add another field goal before the end of the game to get the final score to 82-8.
Christian County was paced by Adreyona Smith with 16 points. Carliah Hobson added 14. Amari Northington scored 13, including three made 3-pointers. Aaliyah Bell just missed a double figures game with 9 points.
Kylnee Henderson had 6 points for the Lady Warriors. Charity Hall had the other basket for HCA.
Christian County moves to 11-8 with the win. The Lady Colonels go on the road Saturday for a big region battle against the Lyon County Lady Lyons.
Heritage Christian falls to 0-7. The Lady Warriors are set to go to Fort Campbell Friday night.
