Lady Panthers End Losing Streak with Win at HCA

The Dawson Springs Lady Panthers put an end to their five-game losing skid Saturday evening. Two Lady Panthers scored in double figures and the Dawson defense gave up no more than seven points in a quarter as they rolled past Heritage Christian 62-18 in Hopkinsville.

Briley Sawyer and Baylee Swatzell combined to score 13 points in the opening quarter as the Lady Panthers ran out to a 16-5 lead.

The Lady Warriors had their best offensive quarter of the night in the second. The problem for HCA was that so did the Lady Panthers as they extended the lead to 37-12 at the half.

The Dawson Springs defense then pitched a shutout in the third quarter as the Lady Panthers pushed the lead out to 54-12.

With the running clock in play for the 4th quarter, the game finished out quickly with the Lady Panthers taking the 44-point win.

Baylee Swatzell led the Lady Panthers with 17 points. Briley Sawyer also hit double figures with 11 points. Hailey Oldham added 9 points while Ashtyn Swatzell scored 8.

8th grader Lauren Loftus was the leading scorer for Heritage Christian with 5 points. Fellow 8th grader Ava DeJager added 4 points.

Dawson Springs improves to 4-7 with the win. The Lady Panthers will travel to McLean County Tuesday night.

Heritage Christian drops to 0-9. The Lady Warriors are set to host Community Christian on Tuesday.
