A slow start put the Hopkinsville Tigers in an early hole they never could recover from Saturday afternoon. The Tigers would go on to fall to Castle High School 73-49 in their second game of the Banterra Bank Warrior Classic.
The Tigers lost their opening game Friday night to Evansville Harrison.
Saturday, Castle limited the Tigers to three field goals as the Knights took a 16-7 lead.
James Bradley Jr. helped to get the Tiger offense going in the second quarter. Still, Castle was able to extend the lead to 32-21 at the half.
The Knights came out of the break and cranked their offense up a gear and pulled out to a 58-36 lead going into the final quarter.
Castle then kept Hopkinsville at arms length over the final eight minutes to take the 24-point win.
James Bradley Jr. finished with 12 points to lead the Tigers. Jonovan Leavell also hit double figures with 10. Jayon Bass just missed double digits with 8 points.
Xander Niehaus was the leading score for the Castle Knights with 20 points. John Aigner added 15.
Hopkinsville falls to 6-12 with the loss. The Tigers are set to get back to action Monday night when they host the Logan County Cougars.
