This year’s girls’ 8th District tournament is going to be a small, intimate event. The tournament will now feature just three teams after the withdrawal of the Heritage Christian Academy Lady Warriors.

School officials confirmed to YourSportsEdge.Com Monday evening that the Lady Warriors will not be taking part in the tournament.

With a small and young roster, the Lady Warriors have faced their struggles this season. As of Monday evening, HCA was 0-9 and was averaging just over 10 points per game. Their high game was 19 points in an early season loss to Highlands Latin.

The current roster for HCA has 9 players on it, no seniors, and only one junior. The rest of the team is made up of four freshmen and four 8th graders.

Already missing from the 8th District tournament for the second year in a row was the University Heights Academy Lady Blazers. UHA suspended their girls’ program before the 2023-2024 season due to numbers issues in the program.
