
Caldwell County’s girls could not string together many baskets Tuesday night in dropping a home matchup against Union County 53-39 at the CAB gym in Princeton.
The Lady Tigers trailed just 13-11 after one quarter, but saw the Bravettes edge ahead 20-15 at halftime.
Union then pulled away in the second half, extending the margin to 38-23 through three quarters.
Union’s Paige Steward had 12 points to lead all scorers in the contest to help the Bravettes improve to 11-5 on the season. Aspen Davis added nine points.
Morgan Aikins led Caldwell with nine points. Tink Clark and Brylee Butts each had seven points.
The Lady Tigers are now 6-8 and have dropped three straight games.
Union has won its last eight meetings with Caldwell and now leads the all-time series between the two schools 33-21.
Next up for the Caldwell County High School basketball teams is a girls and boys doubleheader at Hopkins County Central Friday night.
