A big third quarter turned out to the the difference for the Todd County Central Lady Rebels Saturday. The Lady Rebels got big games from both Alexis Taylor and JaMya Kay as they upended the Muhlenberg County Mustangs 63-58.
The game was close throughout. The Lady Mustangs had five different players score in the opening quarter as they took a 16-12 lead.
The Lady Rebels, behind the play of Alexis Taylor and Ja’Mya Kay, came battling back to take a 32-31 lead at the half. Kay knocked down a trio of three-point shots in the quarter.
The Todd Central defense held Muhlenberg County to just 9 points in the third quarter. At the other end, the Lady Mustangs could not find an answer for Alexis Taylor as the Lady Rebels extended the lead to 48-40.
The Lady Rebels were able to hold off any comeback efforts of the Lady Mustangs in the final quarter to take the five-point win.
Alexis Taylor ended the night with 27 points. JaMya Kay added 20. Kathryn Ballard finished with 6 points.
Muhlenberg County got 21 points from Izzy Wilkins and 14 points from Taylor Wilkins.
Todd County Central (11-8) has now won two straight and will be on the road Tuesday at Butler County.
