Hopkinsville relied on its defense and did enough on the offensive end to pull out a 52-41 victory over hosts Christian County on Friday. The Tigers moved to 3-1 in district play while the Colonels dropped their first district contest.
The Tigers avenged a loss to the Colonels earlier this season to snap a two-game skid and improve to 7-12. They’ll look to end a four-game losing streak to Lyon County when they hit the road on Thursday.
Hopkinsville led 13-8 after the first quarter behind four points each from James Bradley and Jonovan Leavell to open up a double-digit halftime advantage at 29-18.
DeAvery Ramey scored seven of his team-high 11 to help the Tigers extend the lead in the third quarter. Hopkinsville only managed nine points in the fourth but held on for an 11-point win.
Bradley joined Ramey in double digits with 10 for the Tigers, matching Leavell and Layton Giltner with 10 each.
Zion Wharton paced the Colonels with 10, and Josh Bridges had eight.
Christian County slipped to 4-15 with its third straight defeat. The Colonels travel to Trigg County on Saturday to face Calloway County in the Chappel Allen Memorial Shootout.
