Caldwell County grad Derrin Boyd not only pumped in 25 points to help the College of Charleston pick up a conference win Thursday night, he also topped 1,000 career points at the NCAA Div. I level.

Charleston fell behind 16-0 against Stony Brook before rallying to claim an 81- 74 victory.

Boyd was 5 of 11 from 3-point range to help spearhead the comeback. He hit 1,000 points with a 3 in the second half.

Boyd scored 733 points despite battling injuries in two seasons at Lipscomb University in Nashville.

He has 274 points this season, his first at the College of Charleston. Boyd is third on the team in scoring at 13.7 points a contest.

While Boyd just topped 1,000 NCAA points, he is nearing 2,000 college points.

That gives Boyd 1,952 points at the college level.

At Caldwell County, Boyd is fourth on the Tigers’ career scoring list with 1,911 points.

Meanwhile, the College of Charleston is 17-5 overall and 7-2 in the CAA, just one game out of first place.
