Every time I see the Kings Firecrackers — a high energy jump rope team from southwest Ohio — I am more impressed. Just when I think the young athletes cannot be any more dynamic, they are.
The team dazzled fans at the Kentucky-Alabama women’s game Thursday night in Memorial Coliseum. It was their first time performing in Memorial but I am guessing they will be back.
However, tonight the Firecrackers will be back in Rupp Arena for their annual halftime show when the Cats host Arkansas. It is easily the best halftime show of the and that’s why the Firecrackers perform at dozens of high school, college and NBA venues every year.
It’s too bad network TV does not show more of these youngsters when they perform.
Tonight could be a challenge for the team’s second- and third-grade students as they likely won’t take the court until 10:15 p.m. But their energy will ignite a crowd that figures to already be rolling with the Cats playing Arkansas.
