Lyons Fall to Henderson in Region Championship Rematch

Henderson County led wire-to-wire Monday night while downing Lyon County in a rematch of last year’s 2nd Region championship contest.

The Colonels (16-5) scored the first 11 points of the contest and went on to beat the Lyons 59-38 on Senior Night in Henderson.

Senior Lacon McKinney had 26 points to lead the Colonels, who led 17-6 after one quarter and 28-13 at halftime.

The margin was 39-23 after three quarters. Henderson led by as much as 22 points in the second half while earning a small measure of revenge for last year’s 56-44 loss to the Lyons in the regional championship.

Senior Cooper Davenport had 11 points and six rebounds for Henderson while Elijah Suggs, another senior, had 10 points and eight boards.

Lyon (16-6), which continues to battle illnesses on the team, got 17 points from Bray Kirk and 12 from Nolan Coffman.

Henderson has won five of its last six games.

The Lyons have won 11 of their last 13.

Lyon will next host Owensboro on Saturday as part of the Akridge Ace Shootout in Eddyville.
