Lady Lyons Earn Road Win at Carlisle County

After consecutive losses to two of the top teams in the 2nd Region in Crittenden County and Henderson, the Lyon County girls’ basketball team got back to winning ways on Tuesday with a 63-52 victory at Carlisle County.

The Lady Lyons improved to 17-7 ahead of a visit from Caldwell County on Thursday.  Lyon County picked up its sixth straight win in the series with a 70-42 win over the Lady Tigers earlier this season in the All ‘A’ Region semifinals.

Trinity Taylor led the way early on with seven points to help the Lady Lyons to a 15-10 advantage after the first quarter.  However, Carlisle County rallied to outscore Lyon 15-13 in the second frame behind six points from Jazz Smith.

Leading by three points coming out of halftime, the Lady Lyons got nine points from Piper Cotham and Taylor chipped in six to build the cushion to seven with a quarter to play.

Courtney Collins and Cotham combined for eight points the rest of the way to help the Lady Lyons hold on for the win.

Cotham led all scorers with 24, followed by Taylor with 17, and Collins with 10.

Carlisle County slipped to 7-11 despite 15 points from Macee Hogancamp.
