Red-Hot Vikings End Lyon’s 6-Game Win Streak, 75-64

The Lyon County Lyons are the defending state champions and are on the short list of 2nd Region contenders this season.

However, the Lyons ran into a hot Paducah St. Mary team Friday night in a trip to the 1st Region.

Luke Sims had 29 points as the host Vikings turned back Lyon 75-64 for their seventh straight victory.

Lyon (22-7) led only briefly at 17-16 in the first quarter before St. Mary got to the end of the stanza with a 25-17 advantage.

The Lyons got to within 31-28 at halftime, but the Vikings were able to hang on to the lead throughout the second half.

St. Mary (22-6) led by as much as 12 points in the fourth quarter on the way to the 11-point triumph.

Behind the 29 points from Sims was 18 points from Andrew Puckett and 15 from Griffin Mayes. Brett Haas added nine points.

Cooper Collins had 19 points to pace the Lyons. Nolan Coffman had 14 points, Isaac Defew 12 and Carson Collins 10.

The loss ended a six-game winning streak for Lyon, which will next face Crittenden County Tuesday night in the 5th District tournament in Cadiz.
