In two wins over Livingston Central this season, the Lyon County Lady Lyons used quick starts to build double-digit first half leads. When the Lady Cardinals thwarted that plan on Monday, the Lady Lyons used a 16-4 third quarter run to register a 50-37 win in the 5th District Tournament semifinals at Trigg County.

The Lady Lyons will meet Crittenden County in Thursday’s championship. The Lady Rockets beat Trigg County 64-28 in the first semifinal.

Piper Cotham scored 10 straight points for Lyon County during its game-deciding run. She finished with 13 of Lyon’s 18 third quarter points as they took a 40-27 lead into the fourth quarter.

Victoria Joiner scored five straight points and Taylor Leahy knocked down a 3-pointer to get Livingston to within 41-34 with 2:32 left.

However, Lyon’s next three possessions sealed the win. Courtney Collins put back a missed shot and then came up with a steal at midcourt. She fed Cotham for the bucket for a 45-34 lead. Brooklyn Collins hit a 3-pointer to get Livingston back to within 45-37 with 1:42 left. But Cotham buried a 3-pointer from the wing, and Livingston didn’t score again.

Cotham’s stat line included 25 points and five rebounds and she hit three of Lyon’s four 3-pointers.

Jenna Coursey added 12 points on 5 of 6 shooting and came up big in the first half when Lyon County’s offense was looking to get on track.

Lilly Perry scored only three points but grabbed 12 rebounds and added four steals and three assists.

Lyon County outrebounded Livingston Central 37-26 and had 14 offensive rebounds that led to 15 second-chance points.

Joiner led Livingston Central with 15 points and seven rebounds. She finishes her LCHS career in third place on the school’s all-time scoring list with 1,673 points, trailing only Tabby Padon (2,096) and Stacey Calhoun (1,728).

Lyon County has won seven straight games against Livingston Central with the district tournament series between the schools tied at 9-9.

The Lady Lyons will look to win the school’s first-ever girls’ district title on Trigg County’s home floor on Thursday against Crittenden County at 7:00.
