After a season split that included a 24-point Logan County victory and a six-point Todd County Central win, Tuesday’s 13th-District rubber match figured to be a battle that could go either way with a trip to the 4th Region tournament on the line.

After clamping down defensively to hold the Lady Cougars to single digits in the first three quarters, the Lady Rebels had to weather a fourth-quarter rally to prevail 42-39 and advance to Thursday’s district championship against top-seeded Franklin-Simpson.

Addison Holloway knocked down a pair of three-pointers in the opening quarter for Logan County, but the Lady Rebels got five points from Alexis Taylor to take an early 11-9 advantage.

Todd Central got defensive in the second frame, holding the Lady Cougars to only a pair of free throws.  Taylor and Kathryn Ballard combined for eight points to send the Lady Rebels into halftime with a 22-11 lead.

Todd Central added two points to the margin by outscoring Logan County 10-8 in the third, but things got dicey for the Lady Rebels in the final quarter.  Ta’Kyiah Mason spearheaded the Lady Cougar rally with five points, and Reese Wetton and Kyla Bilyeu teamed up to score eight.  However, Taylor made sure the Lady Rebels extended their season with six points down the stretch to finish with a game-high 18 and seal the win.

Logan County’s season came to an end with a record of 15-15.

Logan County           9     2     8    20 — 39
