Not only is she a multi-sport athlete at Lyon County High School, she is a multi-star young lady in her school community and her community at large. And, it is that combination that places Jenna Coursey as another great Chick-fil-A ‘Triple A.’

The junior has been a part of the Lady Lyon basketball program since her 8th grade year and helped lead the Lady Lyons to 20+ wins each of the last two seasons. Jenna has also been on the Lyon County softball team since her 7th grade year, which was the season the Lady Lyons won the All A Classic state championship.

She also took to the links as a member of the first-ever girls’ golf team at Lyon County High School.

But there is far more than just athletic abilities to this outstanding young lady.

Jenna is extensively involved in her school community at Lyon County High School. She has been involved in Beta since 2022 and is a club officer for the 2024-2025 school year. Beta is the largest independent, non-profit, educational youth organization in America, which for more than 80 years, has prepared today’s students to be tomorrow’s leaders. Beta’s goal is to promote the ideals of academic achievement, character, service, and leadership among elementary and secondary school students.

She has also been involved in the Future Business Leaders of America at Lyon County High School since 2022 and is serving as Junior President. She was a regional runner-up in competition in 2024. FBLA is designed to inspire and prepare students to become community-minded business leaders through relevant career preparation and leadership experiences. FBLA is the largest business Career and Technical Student Organization in the world.

In 2024, Jenna was selected to be one of four Lyon County students to be selected as a Farmers Bank & Trust Student Ambassador. In the Ambassador program, students from Lyon County and Caldwell County come together to discuss and plan on how to take action to make their communities better places to live.

Since August 2023, Jenna has been a part of the Sources of Strength program. Sources of Strength is an Upstream Prevention Program. Upstream prevention is an approach to care that examines and addresses root causes rather than symptoms. Using an upstream prevention program can improve long-term outcomes and decrease healthcare costs.

The SOURCES high school program involves a diverse group of peer leaders coming together and using their voice to promote culture change through planned message campaigns, activities, and by personal example. Sources employs a strength-based approach to suicide prevention by focusing on developing and promoting strengths, aka protective factors, and tapping into the students’ power of social networking through creative and regular message campaigns.

And, if all that were not enough, she also is involved in the Student Council, Young Republicans, Technology Student Association, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and the Pep Club.

Giving to her community is also a big part of this young lady’s life. Jenna has been involved in all sort of volunteer efforts, like helping out in Land Between the Lakes. She has been involved in work to clean and maintain a campground each year and has volunteered at the LBL offices. She also volunteered at the Nature Station, assisting with guest greetings and arts and crafts activities during a nature event.

Through her church, she has assisted with a recognition dinner for local correctional officers by helping to prepare and serve meals. Speaking of her church involvement at Eddyville First Baptist Church, Jenna also helps out by organizing and running the church’s powerpoint slideshow during worship services once a month.

During the holiday season, she has been involved in both the Angel Tree program and Operation Christmas Child. Both are designed to benefit children who would not experience much of a Christmas without the assistance of those efforts.

And Jenna’s efforts don’t stop there. She has helped out with little league basketball camps, the Zombie Glow run, the Akridge Shootout, and several other activities.

So, between her skills on the ‘field of competition’ and her obvious interest and desire to make her community around her a better place, Jenna more than exemplifies the qualities necessary to be another of our incredible youth to be representative of a Chick-fil-A ‘Triple A.’
