Cooper Mobley prepared for the spring outdoor track and field season with a medal at the state indoor games on Wednesday.
The Caldwell County junior finished in second place in the shot put with a heave of 47 feet three inches at the KHSAA State Indoor Track and Field Meet at the Norton Sports and Learning Center in Louisville.
The medal was the first for Caldwell County at the boys’ state indoor games.
His finish was good for 21st place in the team standings.
The outdoor season begins in less than two weeks as Caldwell County hosts its invitational on March 15.
