A pair of fielding errors for the Hopkinsville Tigers in the top of the 5th inning opened the door for the Caldwell County Tigers to score four runs on their way to a 5-3 scrimmage win Thursday evening at Hopkinsville High School.

The game had been a pitching duel to that point with the Tigers scratching out the game’s only run to that point on a sac fly from Ari Wells in the top of the third.

In the fifth, Caldwell scored on a hit batter, an error, and a base hit from Westin King.

Hopkinsville came back and scored two runs in the bottom half of the fifth and then added a run in the bottom of the seventh on a bases-loaded hit batter.

Hopkinsville had just three hits in the game, two of them coming off the bat of Dylan Sweeney. Josh Embrey had the other hit for Hoptown.

Luke Parker led Caldwell County, going 2-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Ari Wells and Westin King had one hit each.

Hopkinsville opens the season Monday night at home against Lyon County.

Caldwell County will get things started Thursday at Paducah Tilghman.
