Andrea Federico left the yard twice and drove in five runs as the Crittenden County Lady Rockets handed Hopkins County Central a 7-1 road loss in the season opener for the Lady Storm.
In addition to the big night at the plate from Federico, Crittenden County got four solid innings in the circle from 8th grader Brodi Rich, who got the start for the Lady Rockets. Rich gave up one run on just three hits, striking out four and walking one.
Federico hit her first homer in the bottom of the first inning to put the Lady Rockets up 2-0.
The Lady Storm scored their only run of the night in the top of the second on an RBI single from Julia Harris to cut the lead to 2-1.
Crittenden County (1-0) got that run back in the bottom of the second and then Federico extended the lead to 5-1 with her second two-run homer of the night in the bottom of the third.
Julia Harris led the Lady Storm, going 2-3 with an RBI. Addison Blanchard, Kylee Satterfield, and Cadence Allen had one hit each for Hopkins County Central (0-1).
Emily Ballard went the distance for the Lady Storm in the circle, giving up 10 hits. She struck out three and walked only one.
