Caldwell County Blanked in Season Opener at Tilghman

Paducah Tilghman pitchers Elijah Hamilton and Brayden James combined to shut out Caldwell County Thursday in baseball action at Brooks Stadium.

The Tigers were limited to just three base hits in their season opener while dropping a 9-0 decision to the Blue Tornado.

Landon Hinz was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Tilghman while Nate Riley finished 2-for-4 with a double and two runs batted in.

Stone Crowe went 1-for-3 but knocked in four.

Tilghman (2-0) scratched out the game’s first run in the second inning, then added two more in the bottom of the third.

Three-run frames in the fourth and sixth helped the Blue Tornado put the game away.

Hamilton was the winning pitcher for Tilghman, giving up three hits while striking out seven over the first four innings.

James picked up a save while tossing three innings of hitless relief.

Luke Parker, David Ginn and Scott Cortner each singled for Caldwell.

Channing Puckett suffered the loss on the mound for the Tigers. He went three innings allowed six runs — three earned — on six base hits. Puckett struck out five and walked three.

Ethan Ramage tossed the final three innings for the Tigers, allowing three earned run on two hits with four strikeouts and two walks.

Tilghman now leads the all-time series 19-9.

Caldwell will play at home for the first time on Friday when it hosts Livingston Central.
