
Two tough opponents and two tough losses Saturday for the Trigg County Lady Wildcats. Perennial 1st Region and 3rd Region powers Marshall County and Owensboro Catholic traveled to the Trigg County Recreation Complex Saturday for games against Trigg County and Christian County.
For the Lady Wildcats, the day began with a 10-3 loss to Marshall County, who had opened the morning with a loss to Christian County and was in no mood to make it a two-loss day.
Trigg County took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Madilynn Smith grounded out, scoring Tember Oliver from third.

Marshall County responded by scoring 10 unanswered runs. The Lady Marshals scored three in the second, three in the fourth, two in the fifth, and two more in the sixth.
The Lady Wildcats, who were the visitors in the game on their own field, put a couple of runs on the board in the top of the seventh when Livia Breckel took one over the centerfield fence.
Marshall County outhit the Lady Wildcats 12 to 6 in the game. Six different Trigg County players had one hit each. Livia Breckel led the way, going 1-3 with the home run, two RBIs, and a run scored.
Lily Eagleson went the distance pitching for the Lady Wildcats. She gave up 10 runs, 8 of them earned, on 12 hits, striking out three and walking three.

The second game of the day for the Lady Wildcats saw them fall behind Owensboro Catholic 7-0 after five innings. The Lady Aces put up two runs in the third and then five in the top of the fifth inning.
Trigg County made things interesting in the bottom of the sixth. Kady Fuller reached on an error then Madilynn Smith singled to center. Livia Breckel scored Fuller on a single to left to make it 7-1. MaKenna Hendricks scored Smith on a groundout to second to cut the lead to 7-2.
After Breckel scored on a wild pitch, Lily Eagleson drove on over the centerfield fence and the lead was down to 7-4. But the Lady Wildcats (2-2) had only a single over the rest of the 6th inning and the seventh as the Lady Aces held on for the win.
Lily Eagleson had a monster game, going 3-3 with a home run, two doubles, an RBI, and a run scored. Livia Breckel ended up 2-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
Tember Oliver went the distance in the circle for Trigg County, giving up seven runs, just three of them earned, on 10 hits, striking out seven and walking two.
