Errors Trip Lady Lyons in Loss to McCracken

The Lyon County softball team was only outhit 9-7 on Thursday against 7-1 McCracken County, but the Lady Lyons were undone by seven errors in a 7-2 loss to the Lady Mustangs.

McCracken won its fifth straight while sending Lyon County to its second defeat in as many outings.  The Lady Lyons aren’t scheduled to play again until an April 7 visit from Fort Campbell.

The Lady Mustangs used back-to-back RBI singles by Savannah McDowell and Addley Leidecker to take a 4-0 lead in the top of the third.  The Lady Lyons got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the inning on Lilly Perry’s RBI single.

A Lyon County error allowed a fifth run to score in the fourth before Lilly Hamilton’s fifth-inning single drove in a run to make it 7-1.  Ava Prow’s RBI single in the bottom of the sixth provided the Lady Lyons’ second run.

Perry took the loss for the Lady Lyons, allowing four earned runs on nine hits with four walks and a strikeout over seven frames.

Leidecker earned the win in the circle, giving up a single run on five hits with a pair of walks and eight strikeouts.  McKenzie O’Brien and Cami Cox each had two hits for the Lady Mustangs.
