The Lyon County Lyons opened the door late in the game Saturday night and the Lexington Catholic Knights took the opportunity and walked right through it. Catholic scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth to come from behind and knock off the Lyons 8-7 at Somerset High School.

The bottom of the sixth began with Lyon County holding a 6-4 lead. The Lyons had comeback from 4-0 down early in the game and appeared to have things rolling in their direction.

A walk, a steal, a passed ball, and an error later and the lead was down to 6-5. Another walk and a single, and Lexington Catholic had pulled even at 6-6.

A hit batter and then a two-out double put the Knights up 8-6.

As the game moved to the top of the seventh, the Lyons set their sights on making their own rally. Turner Hurst and Colton Prow led off the inning with back-to-back singles. A sac bunt moved the runners to second and third with one out.

Eli Baker grounded out, scoring Hurst to make it 8-7 and moving pinch-runner Drew Richie to third. But Richie would end the game at third when Korben Lucas lined out to center to end the game.

John Bingham had a big game at the plate for Lyon County (3-3). Bingham was 3-3 with 2 RBIs and a run scored. Colton Prow was 3-4. Korben Lucas ended up 2-4 with a home run, 2 RBIs, and a run scored.

Pitching struggles cost the Lyons in this game as three pitchers combined for seven walks. The Lyon County defense was also charged with two costly errors for the game.
