
Trigg County’s Aidon Butts scattered two hits and struck out 14 on Friday to lead the Wildcats to a 3-0 win over hosts Stewart County, TN.
The Wildcats handed Butts a lead in the top of the first on Chase Hampton’s RBI single, and added a second run in the third when Haydon Reynolds singled to center.
Butts helped himself with an RBI single in the top of the fourth, and pitched around a single and a walk in the bottom of the seventh to pick up his first win of the season.
The Wildcats won for the third time in four outings with their second victory over Stewart County this season. On Saturday, they’ll be in Russellville to face Muhlenberg County in the Kelly Russell Classic.
Slaton Carter, Jon Humphries, and Butts had two hits each to lead the way at the plate. Bentley Reynolds, Haydon Reynolds, Aaden Allen, and Hampton each had a hit.
Benjamin Hendricks took the loss for Stewart County, allowing three runs, two earned, on 10 hits with three walks and six strikeouts.
