One bad inning in the field was the story of the night Friday for the Christian County Colonels. The Colonels had two errors in the bottom of the third inning that opened the door for Paducah Tilghman to score five unearned runs as the Blue Tornado took a 6-3 homefield win.

For the night, Christian County was charged with three miscues in the field.

The errors negated a solid pitching effort from starter Aiden Lewis, who went all six innings, giving up, just one earned run, on six hits, striking out seven and walking two.

Trailing 6-0 going into the top of the 7th, the Colonels very nearly got themselves back into the game, bringing the go-ahead run to the plate.

Coalton Ingram got things started with a one-out single. A Blue Tornado error put runners at first and second. After a strikeout for the second out, Jonathan Lewis singled to load the bases.

Aiden Lewis singled to drive in a pair of runs and cut the lead to 6-2. A walk reloaded the bases and then Gage Montes singled to drive in a run, cutting the lead to 6-3 and bringing the go-ahead run to the plate in the form of Blake Boehman.

But the Colonel rally ended there as Boehman went down on strikes to end the game.

Both teams had six hits in the game, but the deciding factor was fielding as Christian County ended up with three errors to just one for the Blue Tornado.

Six different Colonels had a hit in the game let by Aiden Lewis, who also drove in a pair of runs.

The same two teams are set to play Saturday morning at Christian County High School.
