Maroons Cruise Past the Storm Again

For the second time in three days, the Madisonville-North Hopkins Maroons took care of business in a big way against their cross-county rival. The Maroons scored in each of their four at-bats Saturday afternoon on the way to a 17-1 four-inning win at Hopkins County Central.

The Maroons scored their 17 runs on just six hits as the Storm were charged with six errors and Hopkins Central pitching gave up 8 errors and five hit batters.

Madisonville put up two runs in the first and then blew the game open with six runs in the second. The Maroons added four runs in the third and closed out with five more in the top of the fourth.

Hopkins Central’s lone run came in the bottom of the fourth inning on an RBI single from Kullen Marshall. Peyton James had the other hit in the game for the Storm.

Brantley Harris led the Maroon attack at the plate, going 2-3 with 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored. Alex Richards finished 2-4 with a triple and 3 RBIs.

Madisonville’s Evan Wilson pitched four innings, giving up one run on four hits, striking out five and walking five in picking up the win.

Madisonville-North Hopkins improves to 7-6 with the win while Hopkins County Central drops to 2-10.
