University Heights Academy has turned to one of its own to take over the school’s boys basketball program. School officials introduced Jordan Grace as the new head boys’ basketball coach Monday morning at the school.
Grace, who has previously served as the head softball coach, and is currently coaching the middle school soccer team, was a part of one of the most successful teams in school history.
His junior season, the Blazers were 30-5 and won the All A Classic state championship. The team also reached the Sweet 16 losing to Lexington Catholic in the opening round. The Blazers that season played in the King of the Bluegrass and lost in the championship game to Louisville Male 53-51.
Grace spoke about the chance to coach for his alma mater:
Grace replaces Terry Hayes, who stepped down following the 2024-2025 season after two years on the job.
As for his staff, Grace said he hopes to have some assistants in place over the next couple of weeks.
UHA finished the 2024-2025 season at 9-13, losing to Christian County in the semifinals of the 8th District tournament.
