Todd County Central put four hits to the best use to back the pitching of Ty Jolly and score an 8-3 road win on Thursday at Heritage Christian Academy.
Peyton Ortiz had three of the Rebel hits and was a part of scoring plays in three innings.
Ortiz singled in the first inning following walks to Jolly and Conner Wheeler, with a pair of HCA errors staking the Rebels to a 2-0 lead. He would later score on a passed ball for Todd Central’s third run of the inning.
Ortiz singled home Jolly in the third inning and doubled and scored in the fifth inning.
HCA got two runs back in the second inning when Caden Hale singled and scored ahead of a Caydn Travis double. Chase Cook walked and later came around to score on a passed ball.
Hale, Travis, Caden Gresham, Ethan Miles, and Collin Outland accounted for HCA’s five hits.
Devin Schutt had Todd Central’s other hit aside from Ortiz. The Rebels were also aggressive on the base paths, stealing eight bases and being caught just once.
Jolly pitched a complete game, striking out four and walking three. He allowed one earned run – his first of the season in 10 innings.
Outland took the loss for HCA, striking out six with three of his eight runs allowed being unearned.
Thursday’s game was only the second between the schools. Todd Central beat HCA 16-6 in 2022. The teams are scheduled to meet again on May 13 in Elkton.
Todd Central (8-3) has won five straight games and will host Logan County on Monday.
Heritage Christian Academy (3-8) is scheduled to host Hopkinsville on Saturday at noon.
