Holeman Homers Twice in Caldwell’s Win over Hopkins Central

Harper Holeman had a pair of two-run homers as Caldwell County defeated Hopkins County Central 11-0 in five innings Thursday in Princeton.

Holeman, Caldwell’s all-time home run leader, has five blasts this season and 33 in her career.

The Frontier College signee connected in the second inning, then ended the game with a walk-off homer in the fifth.

Meanwhile, Brylee Butts became the Lady Tigers’ career base hits leader. With a 3-for-4 performance, the University of Memphis signee now has 179 career hits — two more than Mashea Glover.

Caldwell, now 7-5 overall and 4-1 in the district, scored five times in the second inning, then added two more in the third to go up 7-0.

A run in the fourth and three in the fifth ended the game early on the 10-run mercy rule.
Holeman finished 3-for-4 with four RBIs and three runs scored. Butts was 3-for-4 with a double and a run batted in.

Kayliana Bender went 2-for-3 and knocked in three. Daelen Kizzee was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Alexis Wood doubled while Tink Clark and Josie Palm each singled.

Jackie Farmer (3-0) was the winning pitcher for Caldwell. She allowed just four hits while walking one and striking out three.

For Hopkins Central (4-17-1, 2-3), Julia Harris doubled while Cadence Allen, Layla Sorrells and Addison Blanchard each singled.

The Lady Tigers won 16-0 earlier this season when the two teams met in Mortons Gap.

Caldwell has won 21 of its last 22 meetings with the Lady Storm.

The Lady Tigers lead all-time now 38-30.

Caldwell’s girls are scheduled to play McCracken County Friday night in the Marshall County Slugfest.

Hopkins Central will entertain Bowling Green on Friday.
