
The Christian County Lady Colonels have had their struggles this season against teams out of the 5th District. Crittenden County gave up a run to the Lady Colonels in the bottom of the first and that was it for the game as the Lady Rockets scored three runs in the top of the third and then held on for a 3-1 win on the Lady Colonels’ home field.
The loss dropped Christian County to 0-3 against 5th District teams. The Lady Colonels have also lost 1-0 to Trigg County and 12-11 to Lyon County.
Christian County took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first when Avery Adcock led off the inning with a double and then later scored on a wild pitch.
The Lady Rockets got to the lead in the third. After a pair of walks, Morgan Piper doubled in a pair of runs to make it 2-1. Brodi Rich then singled and Piper scored on a Christian County error on the play.
After that point, it was all about the pitchers as neither team gave up a run the rest of the way. Crittenden County ended up outhitting the Lady Colonels 5 to 4 for the game.
Avery Adcock had three of Christian County’s four hits. Seventh grader Talyn Ezell had the other.
Adcock got the start in the circle, giving up three runs, two of them earned, on just two hits. Alyssa Petterson had a solid four innings in relief, giving up no runs on three hits, striking out none and walking none.
Brodi Rich got the win for Crittenden County, going 4 ⅓ innings, giving up one run on three hits, striking out seven and walking four.
