Lyon County High School did not have to look very far to find it’s next girls’ basketball coach, only as far as the baseball field. School officials have announced that current Lyon baseball coach Ricky Baker has been tabbed to take over the Lady Lyon basketball program.
Baker previously spent a year as an assistant to Ryan Perry with the Lyon County boys basketball program,
Baker has been the head baseball coach at Lyon County since the 2019 season and has led the Lyons to the final four of the KHSAA baseball tournament in 2021 and to the championship of the All A Classic baseball tournament over the weekend, after appearing in the title game last season.
He replaces Dawn Cotham, who stepped down at the end of the 2024-2025 basketball season.
