A day that was supposed to see two games for the University Heights Academy Blazers ended up being a single game on the road at Muhlenberg County. A day after dropping a big district game to Christian County, the Blazers took the early lead against the Mustangs only to see Muhlenberg County finish strong by scoring four unanswered runs to take the 4-2 win.
The Blazers broke through first in the top of the third inning. Hayden Hunt drove in a run with a double to make it 1-0. The Blazers added another run thanks to a Muhlenberg County error.
The lead for the Blazers was short lived. The Mustangs responded with three runs in their half of the inning to take a 3-2 lead. Blazer pitching had two hit batters and a walk in the inning.
The Mustangs then added an insurance run in the bottom of the 5th to push the lead out to 4-2.
Cadence Gibson led the Blazers going 2-4 with a run scored. Hayden Hunt and Courtland Gibson had one hit each for the Blazers as each team had four hits in the game.
Josh Pace got the start and was tagged with the loss. He went four innings, giving up four runs, three of them earned, on three hits, striking out five and walking two.
