A four-run fourth inning proved to be all the offense hosts Paducah Tilghman would need on Monday, with the Blue Tornado’s Dain Lynn holding Lyon County to only two hits in a 4-0 victory.
Looking to extend a five-game winning streak, the Lyons were instead shut out for only the second time this season. Paducah Tilghman won its third in a row and fifth in its last six to improve to 17-4.
Lyon County only had a runner reach second base once on Monday before a strikeout ended the threat in the top of the first.
The Blue Tornado did all their damage in the fourth, beginning with back-to-back singles by Brendan Mira and Braden Douglas. A two-out walk loaded the bases ahead of a run on a wild pitch, and RBI singles by Landon Hinz and Wyatt Gower.
Lyon County slipped to 13-6 ahead of a visit from Crittenden County on Tuesday. Hudson Phillips took the loss on the mound, allowing four earned runs on eight hits with a pair of walks and three strikeouts.
Lynn walked two and struck out six to run his record to 4-1. Hinz was 2/3 with two RBI, Gower had two hits and drove in a run, and Douglas finished with two hits for the Blue Tornado.
