
For the first time this season, the Hopkins County Central baseball team has won two games in a row after Monday’s 8-1 victory over hosts Trinity (Whitesville).
After two and a half scoreless innings, Hopkins Central broke through with three runs, including RBI singles from Brody Smith and Sawyer Allen, against Trinity starting pitcher Rylan Cecil.
Leading 3-1 in the bottom of the fifth, Kullen Marshall and Jak Mitchell delivered back-to-back RBI singles, and two Raider errors on the same play allowed three runs to cross for the final score.
Peyton James earned the win on the mound for the Storm, allowing a single earned run on six hits with six strikeouts.
Hopkins Central’s Levi Stanley was 3/3 with two RBI, and Smith finished with two hits and drove in a run.
The Storm improved to 7-18 ahead of a trip to Butler County on Tuesday.
