Full Count Rhythm Survive Late-Inning Rally From Hoptown Hoppers

The Hoptown Hoppers of the Ohio Valley League played their third game of the season against the Full Count Rhythm on Monday evening, but none of the four pitchers that they used were able to find any kind of consistency.

Collin Teodter started on the mound for the Hoppers, and pitched the first six innings. He gave up five hits and four runs, but was able to get four strikeouts.  But his performance was not enough to keep Hoptown from falling to the Rhythm 8-6.

The Hoppers went down 6-2 in the top of the eighth inning after a home run from Rhythm outfielder John Paul Head, but the team was not going down without a fight.

A trio of walks saw the bases loaded with two outs, and then Grady Broughton was able to draw a fourth walk to score a run, making it 6-3. Then Gabe Eddington and Owen Hutcheson both hit ground balls that resulted in errors, which tied the game at six apiece going into the ninth.

But then the Rhythm was able to capitalize on some costly mistakes by the Hoppers to take back the lead 8-6, and that was all she wrote.

The offense still played solid despite the loss, with Carson Tucker, Konnor Scheidt, Kolby Webb, Evan Cardwell, Aidon Butts, and Chance Sweeney all recording hits for the Hoppers.

This makes Hoptown’s record 0-3 to start the season, something that they will be hoping to change in their next game on Tuesday, June 3, against the Paducah Chiefs. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. from Christian County High School.
