Webster County’s Sara Welshans, who repeated as region singles champion, has been named to the Kentucky Tennis Coaches All-State Team.
The senior took care of business at the regional level and scored a first-round win at last month’s state tournament, where she defeated Campbell County’s Rylee Ritter in straight sets 7-6, 7-6, winning tie-breakers in both sets.
Welshans dropped just four games in her four region tournament wins and became the first girls’ singles repeat champion since Caldwell County’s Belle Englebright won three straight from 2017-19.
