The Hoptown Hoppers had lost two straight coming into their game against the Full Count Rhythm on Saturday evening, but they were able to snap that losing streak with a win.
Cody Jones made the start on the mound for the Hoppers, and was able to pitch 4.2 innings, racking up four strikeouts and allowing just two hits. He was one of the key factors in Hoptown being able to grab a 7-4 win.
As for the offense, the team had four players who had a multi-hit game. JJ Thompson and Kolby Webb each had three hits, while Owen Hutcheson and Grady Broughton had two apiece.
The team’s other hits came from Carson Tucker, Cole Reynolds, and Dominick Bello.
The Hoppers found themselves down 3-0 going into the top of the sixth inning, but a single from Webb and a two-run triple from Bello tied the game at three apiece.
Hutcheson then singled in the top of the eighth to give the Hoppers the lead. This was followed quickly by a ground ball resulting in an error from Chance Sweeney, and then a single from Tucker. Then a single from Reynolds extended the Hoppers’ lead to four runs, which all but sealed the deal.
Hoptown will be looking to start a win streak in their next game on Monday, June 16, against the Paducah Chiefs. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. from Christian County High School in Hopkinsville, KY.
