The Hoptown Hoppers and the Madisonville Miners both went into their matchup on Friday evening, but it was the Hoppers that were able to keep their win streak alive.
Gavin Powell made the start on the mound for Hoptown, pitching six innings and striking out four while only allowing one hit and two runs. He was a big factor in the Hoppers winning in a close 4-3 game.
Gabe Eddington came in to relieve Powell, and also pitched a great game. He closed out the game for the Hoppers, and struck out six of the nine batters that he faced in the three innings that he pitched.
As for the Miners, Alex Fisher was on the hill and pitched five innings. He allowed six hits and three runs, but was able to strike out four.
Madisonville struck first when Jace Parnin scored on a wild pitch in the top of the first inning. Clifford Wysinger II then singled in the top of the fifth to score another run.
The Hoppers were then able to quickly strike back as a double from Myles Dentin and a two-run blast from Konnor Scheidt tied the game at two runs apiece in the bottom of the fifth. They then added another run to take the lead after a sacrifice fly from Scheidt scored Cole Reynolds from third.
Coulter Hamilton then answered back with a single that scored Pete Britton in the top of the seventh which tied the game at three runs apiece.
But in the bottom of the eighth, Owen Hutcheson legged out an infield single that scored Reynolds from third, which gave the Hoppers the lead 4-3. Eddington was then able to close out the game and secure the win for Hoptown.
The Hoppers will be looking to extend their win streak to three games in their next game against the Full Count Rhythm on Saturday, June 21. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. from Drake Creek Park in Hendersonville, TN.
As for the Miners, they will be hoping to get back on the right track in their next game on Saturday, June 21, against the Fulton Railroaders.
