Kenny Brooks added a second five-star commitment to his 2026 recruiting class Saturday when Savvy Swords, the 18th ranked prospect, announced she had picked Kentucky over UCLA, South Carolina, Notre Dame and Michigan.
The 6-foot-2 Swords plays for Long Island Lutheran High School in New York but she missed most of her junior season due to an injury but is expected to be at full strength for her senior campaign.
Swords, 17, is also a standout for AAU club Kia Nurse Elite and the Canadian junior national team. Swords helped the Canadian U17 roster to a silver medal in the 2024 U17 World Cup when she averaged 16.3 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game in seven games while shooting 50 percent from 3-point range and 88 percent at the foul line.
Swords is from Sudbury, Ontario, and also played on Canada’s U16 national team.
The Lutheran High X account recently posted this about Swords: “She’s been arguably one of the best high school players in the country since she took the court as a freshman at LuHi. Unfortunately missed the majority of this season with an injury, but is currently rehabbing and will be ready to put on a show for her senior year. One of the most coveted players in the 2026 class. An absolute dawg, someone will be getting a program changer.”
Swords’ versatility includes the ability to score from deep but also be a high volume rebounder and now that “absolute dawg” is headed to UK.

Brooks is going to lift Ky women’s basketball to heights never seen before. If he can continue to have recruiting wins over the likes of UCLA, ND, and SC, the Lady Cats will be contending for conference and national titles real soon.
