The Hoptown Hoppers went into the first game of their doubleheader against the Fulton Railroaders on Monday evening looking to break their two game losing streak. But they were not able to do that, as Fulton was able to get it going in the later stages of the game.
The Hoppers went into the second-to-last inning of the shortened game with a 6-5 lead, but the Railroaders were able to scored seven runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a commanding lead. This was enough for them to get a 12-6 against the Hoppers.
Collin Teodter made the start on the mound for Hoptown, and was able to pitch five innings. He allowed five runs on three hits, but was also able to rack up seven strikeouts.
The Hoppers’ first run came from Cole Reynolds scoring on an error by the Railroaders’ catcher. Their next runs didn’t come until the fourth inning when Chance Sweeney hit a double that played two runs. This was followed quickly by another double, this time from Reynolds, which scored one.
The team’s final runs of the game then came in the top of the fifth inning when Myles Denton hit a two-run home run.
Hoptown’s other hits came from Konnor Scheidt and Bruce Wyche, the latter of which was able to get a double.
This was the first of two games for the Hoppers on the day against the Railroaders, the second of which was played directly after.
