The Hoptown Hoppers had given up a total of 27 runs in their last two games combined, so they went into their matchup with the Fulton Railroaders on Sunday night looking to limit the damage. And that is exactly what they were able to do.
Heath Henley made the start on the mound for the Hoppers, and he pitched all nine innings. He was the key in the team’s 4-0 win, as he allowed no runs in the entire game on way to three strikeouts.
Both teams remained scoreless until the bottom of the eighth when Hoptown was able to break it open. Dominick Bello drew a walk with the bases loaded, which was followed quickly by a single from Myles Denton that made it 3-0. The team’s four-run inning was capped off by another walk with the bases loaded, this time from Zach Hampton.
The team’s other hits in the game came from Konnor Scheidt, Owen Hutcheson, and Chance Sweeney.
The Hoppers will be looking to ride this win into their next game on Monday, July 7, against the Henderson Flash. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. from Christian County High School in Hopkinsville, KY.
