The Madisonville Miners and the Hoptown Hoppers faced off on Wednesday evening for the second time in the past week. The last time the two teams met, there was a combined 14 runs, but that was not the case this time around.
Caden Wooldridge made the start on the mound for the Miners, and was able to pitch the entire game. He only allowed three hits on his way to racking up 13 strikeouts, and that was a key in his team being able to grab the 3-0 victory.
As for the Hoppers, Owen Boswell pitched five innings and also allowed just three hits. But a run came from the hits he allowed, as he also allowed three walks.
The Miners got their first run un the top of the fourth inning when Dylan Toler hit a single to right field. Their second and third runs didn’t come until the eighth when the team was able to score on a passed ball and a steal of home.
Madisonville’s other hits in the game came from Pete Britton and Noah Berning.
The Hoppers will be looking to bounce back from the loss in their next game against the Full Count Rhythm on Thursday, July 10. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. from Drake Creek Park in Hendersonville, TN.
