The Hoptown Hoppers went into their game on Friday evening against the Paducah Chiefs having won their last game, and they were able to start a win streak with a victory.
Cody Jones made the start on the mound for the Hoppers, and was able to pitch 4.1 innings. He only allowed two hits on his way to five strikeouts, but his five walks became a bit of an issue.
Gabe Eddington and Jacob Dilday were also able to come in and allow just two hits combined to close out the game. And this proved to be a key in the team being able to get the 7-3 win over Paducah.
Hoptown did not score their first runs of the game until the fourth inning, but they were able to score five runs very quickly.
Carson Tucker grounded into a fielder’s choice that led to an error, which scored two runs. Then Aidon Butts and Chance Sweeney both singled, which gave the Hoppers a 5-2 lead after a huge fourth inning.
Hoptown then scored their other two runs in the very next inning, one of which was on a passed ball, the other on a single from Tucker. This four-run lead was enough to hold off the Chiefs and grab their second straight win.
The team’s other hits in the game came from Grady Broughton, Konnor Scheidt, and Myles Denton.
The Hoppers will be looking for their third win in a row in their next game against the Fulton Railroaders on Saturday, July 12. They will finish a previous game that was rained out where Fulton was up 1-0. This will be the first game of a double-header.
