After having their scheduled season opener stormed out Tuesday night, the Madisonville-North Hopkins Lady Maroons headed off to Eddyville Friday night to officially open the 2025 soccer season against the Lyon County Lady Lyons.
This one belonged to the Lady Maroons from the early going. The Madisonville defense held the Lady Lyons without a shot on goal on their way to an 8-0 win at Lee S. Jones Park.
McKinley Wilson led the Lady Maroons with 3 goals. Alatheia Golightly added two. Coraline Knight, Israel Gordon, and Hadley Hodges, all scored one goal each.
Carli Gilette, Camree Young, Elizabeth Ashby, and Alatheia Golightly had one assist each.
For the match, the Lady Maroons outshot the Lady Lyons 15-0.
Madisonville-North Hopkins (1-0) will be back in action Monday evening as the Lady Maroons host Henderson County.
Lyon County (0-3) is right back in action Saturday afternoon in Owensboro, taking on the Owensboro Catholic Lady Aces.
