While the football game was going on outside last night, inside the Madisonville-North Hopkins Lady Maroon volleyball team was involved in a big 2nd Region battle against Henderson County. The Lady Maroons had themselves in the thick of the match from the beginning, but ended up dropping a four-set decision to the Lady Colonels.
The first set came down to the final point before Henderson County claimed a 25-23 win to take a one set to none lead. The second set was another battle, but again it was the Lady Colonels getting the win, this time 25-20 to go up two sets to none.
The Lady Maroons had their best set of the night in the third, roaring back to win 25-7 and staying alive in the match at two sets to one.
In the fourth set, some early miscues put the Lady Maroons in a hole they could not dig out of, and Henderson County closed the match with a 25-5 win.
Sadie Kirk and Bri Petit led the Lady Maroons’ attack at the net. Carlee Sandidge had another big night keeping the ball in play for Madisonville and led the team in digs. The Lady Maroons also got big efforts from Cadence Curry, Katie Beth Sutton, and Mashyla McAdoo.
Madisonville (6-9) heads to Caldwell County Tuesday night for a 7th District contest.
