Moody’s Big Night Powers Lady Maroons Past Caldwell

Leah Moody’s 16 kills helped Madisonville-North Hopkins take down Caldwell County Tuesday night in Princeton and take a big step toward the No. 1 seed for the 7th District volleyball tournament next month.

The Lady Maroons needed four sets to beat Caldwell for the second time in two weeks, prevailing 25-18, 25-22, 19-25, 25-20.

Moody also had 12 digs and seven assists as part of her big match.

Sadie Kirk added nine kills, two blocks and three digs to the Madisonville stat sheet.

Cadence Curry recorded 22 assists, 10 digs and three aces. Jaela Bottoms had five kills while K.B. Sutton totaled four kills, 11 digs, three aces and two assists.

Carlee Sandidge had 12 digs and five aces. Bri Pettit had a kill, three blocks and two assists. Claire Gunkel recorded two kills, a block and an assist.

Mashyla McAdoo had four digs and an ace. Katelyn Jones added one kill.

Madisonville is now 7-9 overall and 2-0 in the district.

Caldwell is 7-6 and 2-2.

The Lady Maroons ran out to big leads in the first, second and fourth sets before having to fend off Caldwell late.

The Lady Tigers opened up a big advantage out of the gate while taking the third set to extend the match.

Chevy McGowan had 15 kills and 16 digs for Caldwell. Alaiyaa Shearer recorded eight kills and two blocks.

Troy Freeman tallied six kills, three digs, three aces and a block. Grace Watson had five kills.

Kylee White totaled 35 assists, 10 digs, a kill and two aces. Med Thomas had two kills and six digs while Tink Clark had a kill, seven digs and three aces.

Maddie Cooper recorded 11 digs. Mycah Riddle had nine digs and two aces.

The Lady Maroons won 3-0 in Madisonville when the two teams met two weeks ago.

Madisonville will next host Webster County on Thursday.

Caldwell goes to Henderson County on Thursday.
