
A solid effort for the University Heights Academy Lady Blazers over the weekend in the annual Quad State tournament in Paducah. After a tough start on Friday, the Lady Blazers picked up a pair of wins on Saturday.
UHA lost both matches Friday night during pool play. The Lady Blazers opened with Marshall County, losing in two tough sets. The Lady Marshals won the opening set 25-22 and then closed out the match with a 25-21 win in the second.
The Lady Blazers closed out pool play taking on Warren East. The Lady Raiders powered their way to a straight set win, taking the first set 25-8 and then the second 25-12.
The results of the pool play on Friday set the Lady Blazers in the bronze bracket Saturday morning. UHA opened the day taking on 8th District rival Hopkinsville. The Lady Tigers took the opening set 25-19, but UHA battled back to win the next two 25-14 and 15-8 to take the three-set win.
Up next for the Lady Blazers was Bullitt Central. The Lady Cougars took the match in straight sets, winning 25-17 and 25-23.
The Lady Blazers closed out their weekend in Paducah with a win over Community Christian in a tight two-set contest, 27-26 and 25-23.
University Heights will be back in action Monday night when they host the Todd County Central Lady Rebels.
