
It is not the way that the Madisonville-North Hopkins Maroons wanted to head into the postseason. The Maroons dropped their sixth straight match Tuesday evening, falling 2-1 to Apollo on Senior Night at Donley Field.
The end of season schedule for the Maroons has been brutal with matches against Bryan Station, Henderson County, McCracken County, Owensboro, North Hardin and Apollo.
Tuesday night, the Eagles took an early 1-0 lead over the Maroons.
Madisonville pulled even with Apollo on a first half goal from Dom Blanford, off an assist from Nash Tapp.
The two teams would head into the break all knotted up at 1-1.
The Eagles got a second half goal to get back to the lead and then made that lead stand up the rest of the way.
The Maroons end the regular season at 5-10-1. Madisonville begins postseason play Tuesday night in Princeton when the Maroons take on the winner of the match between Caldwell County and Hopkins County Central in the 7th District championship match.
