
A balanced field will battle for the boys’ 2nd Region soccer championship starting Monday night at Henderson County.
The opener that night at 5:45 p.m. will pit 5th District champion Trigg County (8-6) and 8th District runner-up University Heights Academy (15-6).
The Blazers beat the Wildcats 4-1 when the teams met on Sept. 17.
UHA had won five straight matches before being upended by Hopkinsville 2-1 in the 8th District championship.
Monday’s late game will feature 7th District champion Madisonville-North Hopkins (6-10-1) and 6th District runner-up Webster County (10-7).
The Maroons and Trojans did not meet during the regular season.
The opening round continues Tuesday with defending champion and host Henderson (8-10), the 6th District champ, taking on 5th District runner-up Lyon County (2-17) at 5:45.
The Colonels and Lyons have not met this season.
The late game Tuesday has 8th District champion Hopkinsville (11-6-1) facing 7th District runner-up Hopkins County Central (10-7).
The Storm nipped the Tigers 5-4 when the squads squared off Sept. 8 in Mortons Gap.
The semifinals will played on Wednesday with the championship match on Thursday.
