Girls’ 2nd Region Tournament Begins Saturday at UHA

All four first-round matchups are set to be played Saturday in the girls’ 2nd Region soccer tournament at University Heights Academy, which also happens to be the tourney favorite.

The Lady Blazers (16-2-1) will open things at 11 a.m. against Webster County (4-11).

UHA, the 8th District champion, carries a six-match win streak into the regional tournament. The Lady Blazers and Lady Trojans, the 6th District runner-up, did not meet during the regular season.

The second game of Saturday’s early session will feature 7th District champion Madisonville-North Hopkins (12-7) and 5th District runner-up Crittenden County (7-10-1) at 1 p.m.

The Lady Maroons are the defending 2nd Region champions — beating Henderson County 3-2 in the finals a year ago.

The Lady Maroons and Lady Rockets did not play during the regular season.

Saturday’s late session begins with 5th District champ Trigg County (15-3-2) squaring off against 8th District runner-up Fort Campbell (7-8) at 5 p.m.

The Lady Wildcats defeated the Lady Falcons 3-1 when the teams met in the season opener on Aug. 11 at the Trigg Recreation Complex.

The final game of the opening round features 6th District champion Henderson County (13-8) and 7th District runner-up Hopkins County Central (13-3) at 7 p.m.

The Lady Colonels and Lady Storm did not meet during the regular season.

The girls’ regional semifinals will be played Monday at UHA’s Givens Field, which recently added new LED lighting in anticipation of the 2nd Region tourney.

The championship match is set for Wednesday night.

Tickets are $10 and will be available at the gate.
